Activities organised in 1478 locations

150 volunteer Hope Champions who promoted Hope08 in their areas. When the Champions were surveyed for the evaluation report the responses were very positive:

  • 82% said HOPE08 had inspired their congregations
  • 83% said HOPE08 had made a tangible difference
  • 94% said they were enthusiastic about the goals and visions of HOPE for the future

86% of churches who participated reported that they were doing more as a result of HOPE08

  • 91.2% thought that their "evangelism by action" work had increased
  • 57.6% thought that their "evangelism by words" activity had increased
  • 67.7% reported increased levels of volunteering in their churches

Responses from churches who had been involved in HOPE08 activities were very positive about the opportunities they had had to improve their links with other churches:

  • 88.2% reported their churches attitude towards other denominations and Christian groups had improved as a result of HOPE08
  • 71% of those who already had interchurch relationships in place said that their working relationships had improved. 

Relationships with secular institutions also improved as a result of HOPE08 involvement with 61.8% of HOPE Champions said that their church's relationship and more specifically:

  • 68% said working relationships with local government had improved
  • 67% said working relationships with the police had improved
  • 59% said working relationships with the local media had improved
